Audrina's in the D...So you're tellin me there's a chance....

Bikini-clad Audrina Patridge was soaking up some sun by a pool in Los Angeles a few years ago when a reality TV producer spotted the aspiring model-actress. It was a chance meeting that ultimately led to a six-season run on the smash MTV series "The Hills."

These days, Patridge has traded her MTV gig in Hollywood for a web series in Detroit. Yet the 26-year-old beauty continues to attract attention — and maybe an occasional fan melee.

Last week at an airport in Mexico, she was overrun by fans, and earlier this week in Detroit, Patridge had an encounter with a group of prom-going teens at a bakery in the city's Greektown section.

Could this be the second chance I've been waiting 3 long years for?? Could it be Divine Intervention that Audrina just so happens to be filming a low budget, made-for-internet TV show right here in the D?? Let's hope so, cuz this could really be my golden ticket. For those of you asking what in the blue hell am I talking about; allow me to bring you up to speed:
A few summers ago we were in Sin City for a Bro's birthday. In the midst of the blackouts, the $500 strip club nights and being kicked out of the nightclub and tossed into an alley, I was able to test my luck with her. In the pool at Treasure Island, while we befriended a group of what was either Bros straight from Ireland or Bro's with astonishing fake Irish accents that would put mine to shame, we noticed a small gathering of scrubs around an extremely gorgeous girl in water. One of the lads said "Thats that Audrina girl from The Hills." Sure as Shit: It was! Pat (honorary bro of the Coalition) made the point that if I didn't say anything to her, I'd regret it forever. It was no sooner than I realized he was right, that Cuci's dad suggested I use the line he taught me. Nervous, scared, and about a .16 BAC I walked up to her, put my arm on the small of her back and said I had a question for her. After an enthusiastic "Okay!", I verbally vomited "Do you know how much a polar bear weighs?" Clearly puzzled, she responded with "ummmmm..." when I chimed with "enough to break the ice. My name is Steve these are my friends Pat and Anthony" She leaned forward with laughter and I knew I had made a great impression...
Now what happened after that is hearsay at this point. Some will tell you I was star-struck and panicked. I personally believe that I just didn't expect that line to work as well as it did, and it caught me off guard. Either way the conversation ended shortly after and I've been waiting for my chance at redemption. And now it's come! There's not a doubt in my mind she remembers that encounter; it was fucking golden! So I'll leave this blog open ended as I scour the city for my second chance. She left TV for the internet so you know she's lowered her standards by now. And if 6 years business school has taught me ANYTHING its that you buy low and sell high. Throw Some STEVE on that Bitch!

"Hey LeBron! How's My Dirk Taste?"

Probably like sweat socks
and sauerkraut. No homo.
After poking and prodding Miami Heat forward LeBron James throughout the 2011 NBA Finals, Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson got in one final shot following Dallas' NBA title.

The Mavericks closed out the series on Sunday night with a 105-95 win in Game 6 before taking to South Beach club LIV to celebrate with the Larry O'Brien trophy.

On Monday, the Mavericks flew home to Dallas, where Stevenson was spotted wearing a Mavericks blue and white t-shirt with lettering that read: "Hey LeBron! How's my Dirk taste?"

That slogan is an obvious reference to a Shaquille O'Nealfreestyle rap. O'Neal used the line, "Hey Kobe, tell me how my a** taste" to mock his former teammate with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant.

To add a play on teammate Dirk Nowitzki's name here is incredibly inspired work from Stevenson, who may well have created a legacy for himself as "The Guy Who Got Into LeBron's Head Completely" in these 2011 NBA Finals.

The most underrated part of this shirt is that it bears the sponsorship of HDNet, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban's television station. It's almost like Cuban is personally endorsing the joke.

This series has been beaten to death by the media. Just shoved down your throat 'til you vom. LeBron this, Heat that. I've hardly heard anything about the team that actually won it all. Who did Miami even play again? I digress... This shirt says it all; sums up the entire series. Congrats, Mavs. May no one ever speak of this series again, or I'll smack you with my Dirk.

PLANKING!

THIS has to be one of the funniest things I've ever heard of! Planking is the unofficial official Coalition weird thing to do this summer. Now, if you know WildSteve, you KNOW how much I love doing weird shit (finger guns, made-up dances, peeing the bed, etc.), and according to the wikipedia article,so does the rest of the world. Well it's about time everyone caught up to my curve! Wanna plank?! It's easy. Just lay facedown somewhere with your hands at your side. So

simple, yet so thoroughly entertaining.

So this is where the Coalition comes in...

I wanna see our followers planking things whenever and wherever they can. I'm sure we have an email address that you can send your pictures in to and we will post the good ones on the site. You'll be a semi-local celebrity (among Windows and Firefox users in the US and Canda- our most dominant market share)! And hey, what the hell; you send in a request of places/things you want to see us plank, we'll fucking do it!

Pistons Targeting Isiah

"While Knicks fans fret about the possibility of Isiah Thomas returning to New York, the Detroit Pistons are considering Thomas for their vacant head coaching position, according to league sources. Thomas is not the leading candidate, sources say, but he is on Detroit's short list along with Mike Woodson, Kelvin Sampson and his former Pistons teammate Bill Laimbeer. Thomas, currently the head coach at Florida International University, made headlines this past weekend after the Knicks announced on Friday that Donnie Walsh would not return as the club's president and general manager. Because of Thomas' close relationship with Knicks owner James Dolan, there was speculation that Thomas could regain control of the Knicks.  Sources close to the Knicks' situation insist that Thomas will not be re-hired as the team's president or general manager and Thomas told ESPNNewYork.com's Ian O'Connor on Friday that he has "no desire to return" to the Knicks as president or as Walsh's replacement. Thomas served as the New York's president in a controversial reign from 2003-2008 that left him among the most hated sports figures in recent New York history. That is not the case, however, in Detroit, where Thomas led the Pistons to back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. Widely regarded as the greatest player in franchise history, the Hall of Famer could return to a club that has suffered through three straight losing seasons."
What happened to GZA Dumars? This guy couldn't do anything wrong a few years ago, I just hope this is some kind of joke. I don't get the "he's our guy" argument, when he shows up and completely bombs, it'll suck less cause he won a couple titles for us 20 years ago? Probably getting ahead of my self but I just don't want this conversation to continue one step further.

Dueces!

I bet he wishes he was sporting  maize
and blue on signing day in 2008.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Terrelle Pryor's career at Ohio State, which started with so much promise and potential, came to an abrupt and scandal-ridden end. The Ohio State quarterback announced through his attorney Tuesday that he would not play for the Buckeyes this season. He had already been suspended for the first five games for breaking NCAA rules by accepting improper benefits from the owner of a tattoo parlor. "In the best interests of my teammates, I've made the decision to forgo my senior year of football at The Ohio State University," Pryor said in a statement issued the image of Buckeyes football. James said entering the next NFL supplemental draft is Pryor's "desire." But James acknowledged labor uncertainty could lead to consideration of the Canadian Football League or working with a personal quarterback coach first. James said Pryor told him of the decision within the hour and that Pryor said it was "in the best interest of my teammates."The Cleveland Plain Dealer first reported Pryor's announcement. The NCAA is looking into all aspects of Ohio State's once-glittering program, from cash and tattoos to players, cars deals for athletes and other potential violations. Pryor's announcement comes just eight days after Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel was forced to resign for knowing about the players' improper benefits but not telling any of his superiors.
Shouldn't this decision have been made months ago? I mean at this point what is integrity? Did a verbal commitment to a lying coach really mean anything? Dude coulda got drafted and none of this scandal would mean anything. Now what? Toting guns like Maurice Clarett or straight to the USFL? Either way, there is nothing prestigious in his near future. I hope pushing around miracle whips was worth it, bro.

iOS 5...Wow Is This Nice

by Jacob Allen
Probably after I deal with this...
I am a Microsoft Windows man.  Always have been, and always will be.  About 3 years ago a person I will not name duped me into buying and iPhone.  Here I am 3 generations later blogging about an Apple product, but even the "Mac Hater"s can't talk too much trash anymore.  The iPhone and now the iPad are just industry leading products.  Now we get iOS 5??  Very impressive.

Apple is ahead of the curve.  At the WWDC 2011 Keynote today, Steve Jobs claimed 200 new features are to highlight iOS 5...that seems like a lot.  Maybe more than what's real....but, as an iPhone user myself I definitely cant wait a few of the features.

What I see so far is uber cool, and I can't wait to get this puppy on my phone.  I'm sure ill have an iOS 5 beta build in a few days.  Heres the top tweaks I see so far.

Show Me Your Weiner You Tranny!

NEW YORK – A tearful Rep. Anthony Weiner on Monday admitted sending a lewd photo of his underwear-clad crotch to a young woman over Twitter and then lying repeatedly to protect himself. In a flash of defiance, Weiner refused to resign even as Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi called for a House ethics investigation into whether he broke the rules. The extraordinary confession at a packed Manhattan news conference was a remarkable turn of events for the brash Weiner, who conceded to a "hugely regrettable" lapse in judgment. House Democratic leaders tersely expressed disappointment and embarrassment, reflecting an erosion of support for the 46-year-old New York congressman and casting doubts on whether Weiner could hold onto his House seat let alone turn a once-promising political career into a 2013 bid for mayor. Weiner insisted he had done nothing wrong and said he would fully cooperate with a House inquiry.

Free Plaxico!

Plaxico is back into the free world. If the Lions didn't draft Titus Young, I would be all about picking up Plax. When is Detroit going to take a chance on an ex-convict just aching to redeem himself? Mike Vick goes for 5 tuddys in one game and Philly doesn't seem to have a problem with his "potential for off the field issues". You know what? "Off the field issues" is the weakest fuckin' excuse ever. What are professional athletes doing outside of a team facitily anyway? Why isn't he in the weight room? Why isn't he watching tape? Who lets these clowns out of their sight? I think Jim Rome said it best. Something to the effect of: Eat, weight room, practice, eat, film, weight room, eat, sleep. How hard is that?
I realize at this point Plax is merely a 6'5" black Cheddar Bob, but you put a football in the man's hand and he's a phenom. Let the big dog eat. And even though this is an old take, I get it. Somebody's gotta tote the heater to the club. Right Lil Wayne? Play me off Weezy!

Yahoo! Opens Fantasy Football 2011: Part 2

by Jacob Allen
This is part 2 of my original Post "Yahoo! Opens Fantasy Football 2011: Merry Christmas" and you can read about D Town Bro Co's fantasy league at "Yes, The Bros Are Fantasy Football Guys"

So I am actually doing a Yahoo! live mock draft right now.  In June.  Is this straight feeding my addiction way too early?  Yes.  Does that faze me?  No.

I promised in my previous fantasy football related post that I would go over pre-draft rankings, how it relates to me, and how it relates to you….and I will…but let’s blog, draft, and dream for now.

7:33 – I am in the 7th position.  The draft starts in: 52 seconds.  Wow I have not put any thought into this.  I’m just winging this puppy.

7:35 – Top 6 picks went in order.  All the horse RB’s I don’t even need to name.  Ray Rice was available to me, as I had the 7th pick and Yahoo! Had him ranked #7 overall.  I played it safe this pick and took Aaron Rodgers.  In a real draft you will never see me take a QB round 1, but I froze.  In my defense Rodgers is as close to sure things as you could ever get this year, and I can vividly remember all the disappointed owners that took Rice top three last year.

7:37 – I am thinking I need to go RB with the next pick, but let’s wait and see what value I can get.  This draft is basically just going in order so far and having 4 out of 12 people auto-picking is not helping the cause.

7:38 – Surprise.  I took Peyton Hillis #18 overall.  There were a lot of good receivers floating around my draft slot…and I thought about taking Jennings, Fitzgerald, or Bowe, but in the end I had to go with the RB.  Plus Hillis is the “Baddest Man on the Planet”.

7:42 – Lots of options on the board at my third pick.  I feel I reached a little bit and snagged Ahmad Bradshaw with pick #31….perhaps a few slots before he should have gone, but there’s no doubt he’s a top notch talent (despite his documented rumbling fumbling problems).  I now look strong with elite fantasy ballers at my QB, RB 1, and RB 2 spots.

7:43 – At this point I was, and had to be, emotionally committed to a Wide Out, “and with the #42 overall selection King of the Hillis select Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins”.  This pick could have and maybe should have gone in Dez Bryant, Santonio Holmes, or Brandon Lloyd’s direction. Marshall was probably not the best choice.

Brandon Marshall is too good to be held down
7:47 – I made Sidney Rice my WR 2 with pick #55.  Atta boy.  Nice pick.  I need thinking about a TE now, but it looks like all the nasty tight ends are gone.  Let’s hope for the best.

7:49 – I freaked out again at #67 and took Ryan Grant.  There’s no doubt that was risky, but look at it this way…I have the QB/RB combo package of the Super Bowl winning point machine Packers.

7:51 – Wrapped up the starting TE spot by taking Pettigrew #79.  I thought hard about Gronkowski from the Pats.  I drafted him last year…thus violating my rookie rule, but something just told me to grab B. Pettigrew.   I vaguely remember him giving me the business last season at some point.

7:54 – OOPS.  I did not even look at the roster slots before I started this draft and just realized there are 3 starting WR slots and only 2 starting RB slots with no WR/RB/T.  My Ryan Grant pick is now fully confirmed as not good, but I scrambled and still managed to get Robert Meacham in round 9 with the #90 overall.  Of the starting spots it looks like I just have the Defense and a Kicker spots left.   “King of the Hillis” is nearly filled out.

Mutler
7:56 –I just used #103 to draft the Detroit Lions Defense.  I promised myself and others I would not do that.  Good thing this draft is not real.  Maybe this is insight into a much larger issue in my life I need to address.  I’ll watch out for that.  They were ranked #11, but I had to take a D and didn’t have many other options.  My starting lineup is complete.

7:58 – I’m drafting my bench now.  I just took Brandon Jacobs in the 11th.  Not a bad pick.  I handcuffed Ahmad Bradshaw which is good…and Jacobs actually started playing at some point last season.  Still…I have 2 Running Backs on my bench and 2 starting with only 2 total spots available.  I need a receiver next round.  I got my eye on Steve Smith of the Giants and am crossing my fingers.

8:00 – Got him.  That was solid.  Great value in round 12.  Last year he would have gone 5th – 7th.  Take “Super Rookie” Hakim Nicks out of the equation and Steve Smith would be the #1 guy over there in Gotham City.  Eli Manning likes him.  Tom Coughlin likes him.  People on his Facebook page like him….and now I am going to like him.

8:03 – Who I WANTED to take, was Titus Young.  Who I DID take, was Terrell Owens.  Sure…we do not know where he's playing…but he won people weeks last year with top level point production, and I’ll take him this late in the draft any time.  Plus, I do not draft rookies and already have way too many Lions on my team.
Side note:  Randy Moss was also available.  I did not even come close.

8:07 – Dan Carpenter.  Kicker from Miami?  No clue who this guy is.  I do not care who this guy is.  He better kick it straight and narrow or I’m going to drive down there and go Ray Finkle on his ass.

8:10 – I just went with the highest ranked player available.  Pierre Thomas.  It seems odd that these big name backs from only a year ago are still hanging around on lonely island this late.

8:12 – Mark Sanchez.  Draft is over.  I kind of thought about taking Cam Newton, but I am about to blog about my fantasy football strategies my main ones is “do not draft rookies”.  For the sake of that post and my street cred I did not take Cam.  I really did want to though.

Done.  Let’s look over and rate my picks.

The Yahoo! Sports Fantasy team
1. Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)   10/10
2. Peyton Hillis (Cle - RB)   8/10
3. Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG - RB)   8.5/10
4. Brandon Marshall (Mia - WR)   7/10
5. Sidney Rice (Min - WR)   9/10
6. Ryan Grant (GB - RB)   5/10
7. Brandon Pettigrew (Det - TE)   7/10
8. Robert Meachem (NO - WR)   7/10
9. Detroit (Det - DEF)   6/10
10. Brandon Jacobs (NYG - RB)   7/10
11. Steve Smith (NYG - WR)   8/10
12. Terrell Owens (Cin - WR)   8.5/10
13. Dan Carpenter (Mia - K)   N/A
14. Pierre Thomas (NO - RB)   6/10
15. Mark Sanchez (NYJ - QB) 6/10

That comes to an average ranking of about 7.3/10 on my draft. Not bad. Not good. I will definitely get better…it’s not as if I don’t have 95 days left to do this.

The post ends here...but if anybody is interested in seeing how this entire draft went here are the results.

Bar Review: Diablo's Cantina Royal Oak

by Matt Netzel
Diablo's Cantina in Royal Oak is finally open. Boy was I surprised when I stopped in there last night. It was a friend's birthday and she says, "Meet us at Diablo's." I'm like 'ok, that's a restaurant right?' I mean I guess I'll have a taco and some tequila and move on to the next spot. At this point I had been drinking since 5pm and 6 hours later, although soaking up the booze with some Tex-Mex was probably the most beneficial thing to do, I was not interested in food at all.

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door. I saw a HUGE bar stretch the length of the building, as the house music bass pulsed through my body. The smell of fajitas hit my nostrils in the most intriguing way. Slam piece cougars were seductively moving to the Wiz Khalifa dubstep beat. I was stunned. What I thought would be a nice sit down restaurant was definitely leaning towards a club type atmosphere. I figured I should delve deeper as standing next to the door man, mouth agape, wasn't going to get me booze in my belly, and I was starting to hold up the crowd on its way in.

As I explored the place a little more, I noticed there wasn't just cougars in there, but people in their mid twenties, which was reassuring. The first thing that caught my eye was the screens. They have 70 + plasmas draped all over the place. Perfect spot to watch a game.

On this particular night they were all turned off to give it more of a club feel, which turned out to be a good choice. Nothing sweet was on at the time, the Tigers and Stanley Cup Finals were over, so why bother. They had a decent sized dance floor that, at this point in the night, wasn't being used to it's potential, but come midnight I'm sure that some dougies and bernies got goin.

Drinks were fairly priced for a Royal Oak bar. Everywhere I looked the girls kept getting hotter. I must say all around, the crowd was quite good looking; no homo. You know, no slobs, no sloppy drunks, no goiters. Pretty above average. It seemed like all the douchers remained consistent with making Blackfinn their Saturday night choice, and that was evident from the crowd at Diablo's.

My only problem with this place was the space. They have tables all through the bar area that didn't exactly make it hard to get a drink, but you sure as hell weren't able to kick it right at the bar area after you got your drinks. You had to skidaddle to the high top tables or back towards the entrance. Not exactly ideal.

I'm sure at some point they'll figure out to move the tables at night to make, what is obviously a dining area early in the night, accommodate the night life this place will attract. The next thing was they didn't have the roof open. Yesterday was a prime roof night. We ended up leaving Diablo's for that shit hole Woody's because it was prefect weather for drinking outside. The roof at Diablo's has so much potential, they better figure their shit out and open it up quick.

I'm definitely going to make a trip back here soon to try out the food and watch a game. Ideally I'll be able to go to the roof top and prove to Royal Oak's finest that my hips DO NOT lie, and watch Wild Steve Tequila grind every girl that's coherent. Can't wait!

Yahoo! Opens Fantasy Football 2011: Merry Christmas

by Jacob Allen
Fantasy Baseball is fine (I guess)...and I don't mean to complain, but it gives me the same feeling that I get the morning after Thanksgiving.  That next morning I'm always "thankful" that it's it is over.  I can only get so excited about Lance Berkman (Or literally plug in any professional baseball player's name here...I promise it is all the same) and his .300 NL leading batting average.  I mean the dude was ranked as the #2 overall player for most of the season and is a "stud", but lets me down 7 out of every 10 times he steps in the box.  As if this insane rate of failure is not enough, these "professionals" just plain old don't make the roster certain days because APPARENTLY the skipper thinks they need "rest".

"REST?!?!?!?!  Are you fuckin kidding me?  Hey LaRosa...stop acting like such a pussy and get Lance and his bat in the GAME.  Please.  I've got a head to head match-up to win...and surprisingly enough I've heard that you have a ball game the St. Louis Cardinals are paying you to win.  What do you think this is some kind of a joke?"

King of the Hillis plans on winning the Shiva Bowl in 11'
This is just great Berkman.  Just great.  So let me get this straight.  You are not JUST going to fail me 70% of the time.  No...what you are going to do, In addition to the failure, is take a few days off every couple of weeks.  For rest.  You faggy little girl.   Heres a dose of reality Grandps...I have 7 days every week to ride you and your and your aging body.  I do this willingly meanwhile day in and day out you can find me fighting for my statistical life.   What that boils down to is this; I am putting in the effort and you are not.  Notice how many times in the next few sentences the word "you" is going to be used.  I should not be surprised at your selfishness, but still I keep giving you chances and still you keep screwing me over.  If YOU decide that it is "ok" for YOU to rest, well apparently YOU know best so YOU must be right.  Lance, there is no time to rest.  That better be the last time I have to say it.  If YOU are going to continue to skip games because YOU  need rest, well on those days you might as well buy a plane ticket to Detroit...take a cab to my house...and piss directly on my face.  That's what it feels like you are doing anyways.  Fantasy baseballers like me deal with this shit daily, but somehow are supposed to find the whole thing fun, rewarding, and enjoyable.  News flash.  Fantasy baseball is not fun, it's certainly not rewarding, and is not even close to enjoyable.  Line 1 of this post said "I don't mean to complain", but boy was that comment inaccurate.  Complaining is exactly what I mean to do.  Fantasy baseball sucks.

This post is one of joy not pain...for today is a happy day.  Today is my day.  Didn't even check my baseball match-up once.  Don't want to.  Don't care.  Want to know why?  Because as of today, no longer is there a hurdle between me and the big dance.  This goes back to my point of Fantasy Baseball leaving me unfulfilled like Thanksgiving.  The day after Thanksgiving officially marks end of the wait and the beginning of the real countdown.  That's right.  I am saying it.  Fantasy Football is my Christmas and anything else (that includes you baseball) that dares to get in between ME and my PESENTS is going to get hit sticked.

Fantasy Football Nation:  Today I am proud to announce, "Santa Claus is coming to town."  Yahoo! is open and it's on like Donkey Kong.  Sept. 8 marks the first day games are played (unless this lockout is the real deal) and that means we have...about....96 days until the jolly old fat man makes his way down our chimneys.   I'm sure I've been naughty not very nice....but I'm making my list and checking it twice anyways.  After all, fantasy is coming to town.

Yahoo! opening up the floodgates means more to people than just the fact that commissioners are now allowed to start inviting managers back into leagues.  It also means that the most important and influential player rankings are set and to those who plan on winning...it starts right now.

So while I had started doing my draft homework before this was realized, there is no doubt that I am a little stunned by some of the rankings and this post is purely driven by emotions.  I have settled down a little bit, but those that know me can just imagine.  I was freaking.

Me:  "Wheres Hillis going to be ranked?"

I'm flying through these ranking and articles like a Audi R8 on the autobahn.

Me:  "How long can I wait on Phillip Rivers?"

Chumps and busters must have been just inhaling my dust.

Me:  "What about the Lions Defense?  Wasn't I just blogging about that?"

I was losing control and losing it quickly.

Fast forward to the end, and I'll refrain from posting the latter portion of no less than 150 questions to myself later. I feel like I know less than when I started.

/* Side Note:
To anybody thats brave enough to tell me that any other website outside of Yahoo! is king of the fantasy world, well you should also be brave enough to admit to me that you don't know shit...you might as well take this time now and face the music.  That comment proves that it is true.  You REALLY don't know shit.  It's 2011, time to get with it asshole.  Put down your flip phone and join the rest of us.

"ESPN is WAAAAAYYYY better than Yahoo! for Fantasy Football.", you might hear these guys saying.

These are the same jabronis that use Bing search instead of Google because "it's a decision engine" and "TRUST them it's better."

No..guy, it's not.
*/

Rankings are fun but also misleading and do not do all that good of a job predicting what a player is going to do and for the most part look at his season as a whole instead of what this cat is going to give you week to week.  Especially early season rankings.  They are based solely on last seasons performance, as an entire body of work.  A million number of things can and will change before kickoff Sept. 8th.

The best part of the early ranking experience is checking out where everybody is ranked on your "last years" squad.  I did it.  Immediately looked at, and griped about where my players were ranked from last year.  Some because I thought they were not getting enough credit...others because I thought they would be ranked lower and that it was possible that I was the only person noticing them putting up 30 points a week in 2010 and maybe I could get them with a bargain pick in the 4th.  Well, I can't...but wishing and scheming is all part of what makes it so fun.

It is unreal how true to form each draft goes to Yahoo!'s pre-draft player ranks.  For example.  Last year, 2010,  rookies Ryan Matthews and Jahvid Best were ranked as the #7 and #27 overall players pre-draft.  I did a lot of mock drafts and more often than not I would see Matthews get snagged in round 1 and Best in round 3.  In our draft Matthews got taken #7 on the money and Best was taken #28....as rookies.  That's crazy.  All it took was Yahoo! to say jump...and experienced fantasy ballers jumped.   I have a theory that simply states to just do not draft rookies.  What is the downside to drafting a vet that has a body of work instead of a college player?  It's so simple, yet if Yahoo! says that you need to dance with these noobs, then odds are you're dancing.  The fantasy gurus over there really do know more than you, or me...but they are not the end all.  Go with your gut  sometimes not your Yahoo! O-Rank list.  In this case they were mostly wrong, as both Matthews and Best struggled in 10'.

My point is that these rankings are the rankings that are going to put the players on peoples teams.  Like it or not if you see that LeSean McCoy is ranked as the 11 overall player....well that means that if you were hoping you could sneak him in late round 2 or early round 3...you can't.  He will go first round.  Write it down and send it in.  He may very well not be first round talent, but if the Yahoo! guys say he is...and they have...then hes going to go where they say.

Lets go over their top players at each position.  I will share some of my thoughts and opinions about players that I had last year and maybe a few who I was hoping to get this year.  I might tell you where I "thought" they would be, where I "wanted" them to be, and where I fully expect them to go.  Since my league, Detroit MI CCY, and the lions share of Yahoo! leagues are 12 team leagues, I will show the top 12 players or the first string guys in each position.  And no, I'm not including the kicker.  Kickers are gay.  You know what else is gay?  My computer being 3000 degrees right now.  My wrists are sweating.

Actually let's stop this post here.  I will do more research and post my thoughts and my rambles in the next day or so giving me time to think before I blog.  Thanks for reading.

Takin' a Beet

#1 Beetlejuice
Part 1 of "Beetlejuice and the Top 25 Wack Packers"

Things we know about the Howard Stern Show's brightest star, Beetlejuice:

-  He gets high with the women
-  He don't know, this is not his chair
-  He's a badass man
-  He is 6'7" and weighs 800 lbs

Simply put, Beetle is the man.  He has a private talent manager/professional boxer Bobby Rooney whom he trains.  Beet is a media mogul having appeared in multiple movies, TV shows, has his own theme song that was composed and performed by Staind,  and has been hired to do voice overs in video games.

His movies include Scary Movie 2, Bubble Boy, Girls Gone Dead, Channel 101 and others.  Some if his TV appearances are are on Howard TV as a regular, WWE, Son of the Beach, True Crime New York, and Doggy Fizzle Tellevizzle.  Beet even stars in his own reality show, "This is Beetle" that runs on Howard TV.  All this while being a 3 foot midget with a pin sized head.  Beet, a native of New Jersey, has his own "tossing" gig.  When i say tossing, I mean exactly what it sounds like I mean.  You pay him to show up...everybody proceeds to take as much booze to the face as humanly possible, and you toss around Beet and a few other midgets he employs in a competition to see who can toss the midget the furthest.  He will makes appearances at events and bachelor parties, but only if you are ready to shell out Benjamins.  Interested?  Head on over to jollydwarf.com to book.

In 2008 Beet was a New York State Senator candidate.  Some of his stances on controversial topics included:

Abortion:  "I love abortion...it's good.  I gets high with the women.  I'm a badass man."

Tax Cuts:  "I'll pay the people of New York $1, 000, 000 and they'll pay only $24 in taxes.  I can get paid, and I get get laid.  I do dangerous shit you never seen people do before."

Education System:  "Everybody go to school for 44 years.  I'll bury that ass."

Drugs:  "I do drugs every day.  Kids should do drugs, faggots should do drugs.  Bitches and whores they can do drugs and they want to get high?  Hey...I got all the shit they can have."

Lester "Beetlejuice" Green is a midget, a retard, and a prick...but to the Stern Fan Nation and the rest of the Wack Pack he remains exactly where he belongs.  On top as a champion.  A true #1.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of "Beetlejuice and the Top 25 Wack Packers":   Gary the Retard

This Just In: Guys Like Boobs

Documentary : Sexy Girls Have It Easy from Bright Hand Pictures on Vimeo.

Sweet study, lady. Guys like hot girls. Guys like dumpy girls slightly less. The difference here is the money they are willing to spend on them. I mean this dates back to our ancestors. You know cavemen weren't giving up their food for the broke bitch with the Neanderthal forehead and the cleft palate. And look at the guys she's targeting here. Bus drivers, taxi drivers, food court workers, drunk asshole at the bar. All the most socially inept people. These people have no clue how to handle a pretty girl. I don't care how hot you are; you come up to me and say buy me a drink and I'll tell you to fuck yourself, plain and simple. I'll let you know if I'm feeling charitable, tootse.

Are You Serious Wayne?

Lil Wayne has to be kidding with this one, right? This is the first track from Tha Carter 4? Does he realize how highly anticipated this album is? If this is any indication of how the album is going to be then fuck it. I'd rather wait a week and get the new Limp Bizkit (seriously, Limp Bizkit is dropping a new joint June 28). I really really hope I'm wrong. I NEED some summer anthems and Wayne must deliver.

He Bit Me ... Ouch, Charlie!

I'm so glad someone put two and two together here. I've been waiting since 8am today to put together my own rendition of this and BOOM! Fucking internet, man. All I could think of when Burgeron's whiny ass is skating to the box is "Ouch Charlie. That really hurt!" Bravo!

It's Spelling Bee Weekend!

Black people can even make the Spelling Bee entertaining! Now that's impressive. How come I didn't know the spelling bee started today? I would have taken work off. I wish VH1 would do a "Where are They Now?: Spelling Bee" edition. I mean Stephen Hawking can't even spell 'clepsydra'. By now, the kids from the 1995 Spelling Bee must be out curing cancer and texting aliens and shit. Or they could be having life long panic attacks and living under the freeway overpass having seizures every time a bell rings, respelling 'nachschlag' over and over in their head for the rest of eternity. Such is childhood competition and stardom.

What Up Grand Rapids?

by Matt Netzel
In January, MainStreet.com named Grand Rapids, Michigan, 10th on its list of America's "dying cities." It's possible nobody would have ever learned about this dubious distinction, but Newsweek picked up the story on its website, giving folks living in the Midwestern city -- and nearby Detroit and Flint -- something to be bummed about in addition to massive unemployment and home foreclosures.

First off, how are Griffin and P-Beads not in this video? They ARE Grand Rapids. Getting to my point, I love it when people say "Oh, this is in Michigan. It must be shitty, poor, and 'dying'." They make this assumption without leaving their little glass house to get any insight about the area whatsoever. The west side of the state has some of the most old money in the country. It's no Connecticut or South Carolina, but the West coast of Michigan is a destination that no one gives nearly enough credit. From the white sand beaches of Torch Lake all the way down to the debaucherous spring break atmosphere on the shores of Grand Haven and South Haven, the west side is on FIRE in the summer. Slam pieces everywhere. Multi-million dollar properties being treated like the Penthouse Suite at the Drake. Who gives a shit? The "help" is gonna clean that shit up Monday morning anyway. Week in and week out, just insane.

You Raise Me Up: Looking Back On A Legend

A Tribute To Rich Rodriguez

The Invincibility, The Magic Around the Michigan Program As It Relates To the Michigan State Spartans Is Dead
Hail?  Check.
Victor?  Check.
Valiant?  Check. Conquering Hero? Check.

Worst hire in Division 1-A history?  Check.

Former University of Michigan Head football coach, Rich Rodriguez, represents so many different things to so many different people.  To a West Virginia fan he is a winner turned traitor.  To a Michigan fan he is a terrible mistake.  To Pat White and Steve Slaton he is a genius.   To Tate Forcier he is a tease.  To Denard "Shoelace" Robinson he is a baby maker.  To his own defense he is a child.

So what exactly does Coach Rod represent to me?  I'll tell you what.  Hes a valiant victor.  Hes  my conquering hero.  He serves as an inspiration to me and anybody else who's been burdened with a few less brain cells than the kid next to him. He is a provider...of entertainment and endless trips to the end zone for just about every player lucky enough to stand opposite his defense.  All joking aside (truthfully this is not a joke), I want to take this moment right now and thank Dick for all he's done.  Thank you Dick...you will be missed.

It seems like only yesterday that Michigan was pounding little brother into submission year in and year out.  Legit verified ass whippings on the reg. In my 6 year college career at Michigan State we did not beat them once. Then along comes Coach.  Granted, I no longer call East Lansing my home but I'll forever call the Spartans my team and no one man did more for my team than Rich Rodriguez.  Like a thief in the night he took the reigns and started losing at break neck speed.  Michigan's losses started piling up like they have never piled up before...and to make my long point a little shorter, the end result of his first year was a 3-9 record, which kick started what would become the worst 3 year stretch in Michigan Football history.

Rich is the king of getting ESPN to give a kid a Heisman trophy after week 4.  Only to find out that they were really only pasting the cream puffs he would schedule every year non-conference.  See Tate and Denard.  Rich is also famous for his title as king of the post game pout, as evidence reveals in the 3 or 4 times he busted out into tears because his feelings got hurt.  I mean a grown, head football coaching man cried at press conferences.  A lot.  To top all this off, shortly after he knew he was getting canned he famously stood in front of his players, their families, and UM faithful alike and figured that all he had to do to win his job back was play a Groban track, start the sniffles, and shed a tear or two.  That must not have gone as he planned because instead of getting the job he got humiliated.  Whatever you want to call it...the facts remain, that was some of the most embarrassing and most bizzare behavior NCAA college football has ever seen.  Dick is like a train wreck and a treat all mixed into one.  He may disappoint his team and his fans, but this guy never disappointed me.  What an absolute joy it is just to know that hes a real person.   The only thing that could make this better would be Ohio State giving him the head coaching job due to his above average skill set in a.) breaking NCAA rules and b.) destroying dreams in Ann Arbor.

You know what else is kind of funny?  So now they hire Brady Hoke or as I like to call him "PLAN C".  Somehow this mid-major "Michigan Man" is only 47-50 playing against second rate squads and I can't help but feel eerily similair to the same way I felt at the start of the Rodriguez regime.  Not like it matters and not like I really care anyways.  As long as Michigan continues to lose...I continue to win, because if theres anything I like more than a Spartan W it's a Wolverine L.

Michigan Career Highlights Include:

0 - Wins against MSU
0 - Wins against OSU
Worst 3 stretch season Michigan has ever seen
A 52-14 loss to Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl when his job was publicly on the line
Cries at football banquet

SOLD! To the man with the Moves!

by Wild Steve
It's official! The Pistons have officially been sold to Tom Gores and his dance moves. This is a great day for Detroit Basketball fans because we now have the freedom to make some damn moves for once. And no, I'm not talkin about the monkey like Tommy boy is doing in the above pic, or even my personal favorite; movin like Bernie. I'm talkin the long laundry list of things that need to be done to make this team a contender again. So Tommy, my boy, if you're reading this-OK first of all if you're really reading this, think about investing- take a minute and reflect on what WildSteve thinks your priorities should be...

1. 86 some dudes ASAP!
It's simple, the only thing left of the 2004 championship should be the banner in the raftors. Well, and maybe give Joe D another year cuz I doubt you know enough about basketball to even make a layup. But send people packing. This means Tayshaun, Rip and Big Ben. Love ya guys, but it was fun while it lasted.

Justin Verlander Doesn’t Bother Telling Parents Difference Between No-Hitter And Perfect Game

DETROIT—Following a phone call home Monday, Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander said that he hadn’t even bothered to explain the difference between a no-hitter and a perfect game to his parents, claiming that going into the various details would be more trouble than it was worth.

“Obviously one’s better than the other—one is perfect—but no matter how many times I try to tell them that a no-hitter is also a pretty amazing accomplishment, they just don’t get it,” Verlander told reporters. “What’s worse is that they pretend they’re really proud, and in some ways they are, but I can tell by the tone of their voice that it’s forced. I know if I told them I threw a perfect game they would be genuinely ecstatic, even though they have no clue what that means. They just know the word ‘perfect’ is before ‘game.’

Heat Take Game One in Dramatic Fashion

By Jacob Allen
Wow. The Miami Heat just put on a show. Tonight I was a witness.  4th quarter domination is becoming the norm in South Beach. With the score tied the Heat went on a can't stop me, can't score on me, alley oopin dunk party to blow open and close out what seemed like a tight game (Q1-Q3)   in the same dominant fashion we've seen all throughout the playoffs.  These guys, simply stated, are the best players in the world.  Unimaginably good.  I can't see the Mavs even beginning to stop them.  If they somehow win a game or two, and I mean if, then its going to be because the Heat released the stranglehold, and just felt like closing the series out at home.
